a casket for merano
communal living in the alpine region of Italy
project within the institute of building construction, TU Vienna
A solitary space that attacks the typology of a commune by compromising the individual space and maximizing the shared areas. the transformative facade allows the cubature to communicate with its surroundings flexibly & preserves unique exposure opportunities.
the main goal was to create a sustainable building technology organization in order to live in the commune ecologically and on a low-tech basis. this specific aim was especially clarified in a skylight construction, that would work in a ventilation system individually for every living unit, but also open for the whole common space.
